A lasting tribute to two managers who defined Leeds United’s modern era

Leeds United appointed Intaglio Creative to transform prominent East Stand space at Elland Road into two permanent supporter landmarks:

Bielsa’s Place and Howard’s Way

Building on the success of Centenary Square and Bremner Square, this project created new capacity for a personalised fan-stone programme while honouring two managers who shaped the club’s modern era. The completed installation will comprise of 4,500 individually engraved granite stones, two bespoke centrepieces, iconic imagery of the two managers and become a new destination for supporters and visitors.

Two legendary managers. One lasting place at Elland Road.

Bielsa’s Place was completed in July 2026 with 2,500 personalised stones. Howard’s Way will be completed in August 2026, honouring Howard Wilkinson’s title-winning legacy with 2,000 stones.

The Challenge

Following the success of the Centenary Square and Bremner Square, Leeds United saw an opportunity to extend supporter personalisation into a new, high-profile area of Elland Road. The brief was to create two permanent tributes to Marcelo Bielsa and Howard Wilkinson, while unlocking additional inventory for supporters to record their connection to the club.

The programme needed to:

  • Honour two distinct managerial legacies without compromising the East Stand environment.
  • Accommodate personalisation at significant scale.
  • Meet the quality and durability expectations set by previous projects.
  • Deliver a commercially meaningful, supporter-first scheme.
  • Be installed before the first home fixture of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

The Solution

Intaglio designed and delivered a connected, two-location legacy programme on Lowfield’s Road. Each destination gives supporters a distinct route into the club’s modern history, while using a consistent personalisation, material and production approach that enables reliable delivery at scale.

Being part of this project was a real honour. Leeds United has an incredible history, and our focus was on creating something that truly
does justice to that heritage. We’re proud to have created a third landmark at Elland Road that is durable and looks fantastic to. The bespoke centrepieces add a real sense of nostalgia, a personal celebration of two great managers.
