A new home for fans in front of the new Kop Stand at The Racecourse – Kop Square
Opened in 1807, The Racecourse ground in Wrexham, is the home of Wrexham AFC. The ground holds a Guinness World Record for the oldest international football stadium still hosting international matches, having hosted Wales’ first home international in 1877. During the last 24 months, the club set out ambitious plans to redevelop the famous Kop Stand and is now well underway with construction to transform the space into a 7,750 seater stand, pushing overall ground capacity to approximately 18,000.
Intaglio Creative are proud to have been appointed to deliver Kop Square, a walkway of personalised engraved fan stones on the new Fan Plaza outside the rebuilt Kop Stand, both of which are due to be unveiled to supporters in time for the 2027/28 season.
The new Kop will restore The Racecourse to a permanent four-sided ground, whilst Kop Square will give supporters a permanent, physical place in the next chapter of the club, laid at the foot of the stand where Wrexham’s loudest fans have always gathered.
Stones are now on sale to the club’s global fanbase and already thousands of supporters have chosen to make their mark, celebrating this exciting new chapter for the club and city of Wrexham.

The Challenge
Wrexham AFC want the new Kop to be more than just a redevelopment project at the Racecourse Ground. The area outside the Kop has always been a hub of activity on match days, where supporters meet, gather and build the atmosphere before kick-off. The Club wish to dedicate a space outside the stand that celebrates its fans and gives supporters everywhere a way to be part of the stadium redevelopment.
The project needs to:
- Create a meaningful fan landmark on the new Fan Plaza
- Reflect the heritage of the Kop and the character of the Racecourse
- Offer a range of stone sizes and price points so that every supporter can take part
- Open sales ahead of installation, while the stand is still under construction
- Serve a local fanbase and a fast-growing global audience from the same scheme
- Stand up to match day footfall whilst keeping a premium finish
The Solution
Intaglio is delivering Kop Square as an engraved fan stone walkway, built around heritage, placemaking and supporter choice.

Rooted in the story of the Kop
The Kop has always belonged to the fans. Kop Square carries that forward, giving supporters a permanent place in the ground at the foot of the new stand. Club legends will sit among the fan stones, so supporters are laid alongside the names they grew up watching.

Built around supporter choice
A range of stone sizes and price points means every fan can take part, from a simple personal message, to a larger family dedication. Supporters can honour a special memory, pay tribute to a loved one or mark their own loyalty of Wrexham AFC. A certificate of authenticity, signed by club owners Rob Mc and Ryan Reynolds and a replica keepsake stone housed in a presentation case lets fans keep their purchase at home too, particularly pertinent to the global fans unable to visit the Racecourse ground often, if at all.

A new match day destination
Kop Square will sit on the new Fan Plaza, the first space many supporters will pass through on match days. It turns the approach to the Kop into a destination in its own right and a place fans from around the world will seek out when they visit Wrexham.
The Racecourse is one of the most historic grounds in world football, so being trusted to create something permanent outside the new Kop is a real privilege. Every stone in Kop Square will be made and checked by our own team. Once installed, they will collectively tell the story of what this club means to thousands of Wrexham supporters across the globe. When the stand opens, fans will walk past those stories every matchday, a living legacy for generations to come.
The Results
Kop Square is live, with supporters already securing their place in the scheme in their thousands, before the very first stone is due to be laid in Spring 2027.
