The Challenge

Centenary Square was first introduced during Leeds United’s centenary celebrations as a fitting tribute to 100 years of football, community, and loyalty. The project gave supporters the chance to cement their place at Elland Road and be part of the club’s story.

Keen to protect the landmark’s long-term future and ensure that fans would be able to see their stones for many years to come, Leeds United appointed Intaglio in 2024 to rebuild the project from scratch.

The brief was to replace all 10,000+ stones using premium granite, restore every supporter’s inscription, and expand the design to include new sections, ensuring the landmark would stand proudly for decades to come following quality issues experienced with the original suppliers installation.

The Solution

Intaglio began by revisiting every fan inscription from the original installation – more than 10,000 in total – ensuring each message, name and crest choice was accurately recreated in durable granite.

The Results

Centenary Square now stands as one of Elland Road’s most distinctive features, providing an impactful space that connects generations and showcases the pride of Leeds United supporters.

  • 14,500+ personalised granite stones
  • 6 themed areas and 3 centrepieces celebrating legendary managers
  • 700+ m² of craftsmanship and club pride
  • Delivered on schedule and to the highest standards of quality
  • Optional extras: Replica stones and certificates
  • Themes: Revie Era, European Nights, A Year to Remember and Championship-Winning Managers

A century celebrated. A legacy continued.

This scheme and Bremner Square proved so popular that the club has launched a new fan scheme with Intaglio. East Stand Legacy Stones are on sale now: legacystones.leedsunited.com

“Being part of this project was a real honour. Leeds United has an incredible history, and our focus was on creating something that truly does justice to that heritage. We’re proud to have created a landmark that is durable and looks fantastic too. The end result truly feels worthy of its place at Elland Road.”
